	Out of the earth we seek the source of all knowledge. Alone we stand on the very edge of eternity and discover a timeless answer from another age. And we are reminded that it is only our childlike comprehension of time which stops us from observing the very formation of the answers we seek.

The high country of the Rocky Mountains and Foothills is where the heart has room to soar and the air is clear and smells like, well, air. After a few days up here the lungs clear and the mind does too. I suppose there are remnants of pollution and the smells of civilization but I can't discern any. The flowers seem brighter and more colourful and the trees seem greener.

As I drink a cup of tea made from Birch bark and leaves I'm wondering what Henry David Thoreau was thinking when he penned; "In wildness is the preservation of the world." He knew of course that everything one needs to live is available for the taking.

It is simply impossible to not be moved by the wildness and freedom that can be felt here. Never in a rush, it is possible to stop anywhere and become part of what you see. The animals and birds will soon accept you and continue with their daily routines. What a wonderful place to spend a lifetime.
