Throughout the foothills and back country of Western Alberta and British Columbia one often comes upon scenes like this. They are everywhere once you get off the beaten path. They are easy to miss though. And they are slowing disappearing as mother nature quietly reclaims them.
As you explore a place like this you can see the remnants of a life that was tough but rewarding at the same time. The people who built this were strong and tough. They chose their way of life freely and benefitted from it in a way that is simply not possible in the hectic buzz of the city. They built their lives with their hands and knew what it was to live in harmony with nature. We salute these brave and freedom-seeking people as we walk about and feel a tiny bit of the freedom they lived with daily.
