The foothills southwest of Calgary in the southern Alberta Rockies are where I've spend many wonderful days, and weeks during my youth. I remember Clarence Copithorn west of Calgary always had a horse and saddle for me whenever I dropped by.This painting was in the foothills west of High River and Black Diamond. We used to go hiking and riding in this area. We would rent horses if any were available, if not we'd drive in, park the truck and hike a few miles to set up base camp. Then we'd do day hikes in all directions. If we weren't in shape when we started we certainly were at the end of the first week.
